Shaun Davies

Instruments played:  Guitars, Vocals, Piano

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Musical Arts, National Diploma Level 3 in Performing Music (Distinction), currently studying Composition at the Royal Northern College of Music (Postgraduate)

Shaun is one of our guitar tutors and has taught music lessons at The Sound Academy for 8 years now. A graduate of Salford University, and currently studying composition at the Royal Northern College of Music, Shaun has a great depth of knowledge from various musical genres and his work as a performer, composer and arranger. Alongside his studies and his work with The Sound Academy, Shaun is creative director of Kinetic Manchester, programming and showcasing new and contemporary classical music by composers from across Europe.

As a guitarist, Shaun has been part of various rock/metal bands, jazz ensembles and function bands over the years. He is constantly learning new and exciting ways of expression on the guitar and thoroughly enjoys sharing his experience through guitar lessons with students and supervising their progress.

Joe Singleton

Instruments played:  Drums

Qualifications:  Distinction in his Drums Grade 8 at the age of 14, A Level in Music and Music Technology, BA(Hons) in Popular Music

Joe began his drumming career at the age of 8 taking influence from many different musical backgrounds, developing a real love for rock, jazz and funk music. He is a former drummer in the Wigan Youth Jazz Orchestra, where he played in the Aberdeen International Youth Festival of 2011. Joe was the drummer in his various high school musical productions and a member of the John Rigby Jazz Quartet when at 6th form college. Whilst studying at the Royal Northern College of Music, he was a member of both a Jazz band and a repertoire band.

Joe has been taught by some big names in the industry, from whom he has learned some valuable lessons and improved his technique. He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2014 and is now the drummer in The Lottery Winners, a originals band signed to Warner Bros. Records. Joe has taught drum lessons at The Sound Academy for 8 years, working with many different students of varying ability.

Katie Lloyd

Instruments played: Bass, Piano, Vocals, Guitar

Qualifications:  1st Class Honours in Studio Recording and Audio For Music, A in Music and a Distinction in Music Technology at A level, Bass grade 8

Katie is the bass player and singer in a band called the Lottery Winners, currently signed to Warner Brother Records by music industry legend Seymour Stein. They are currently working on their debut album, scheduled for release in 2018!

When she’s not busy with the band, teaching is Katie’s dream job. A graduate of Salford University, she’s taught bass guitar lessons at the Sound Academy for 9 years now, and through that time she has taught children of all ages and abilities, and some of her students are still with her from all that time ago, even now!

Katie has grade 8 in Bass and also has grade 5 in Piano, and is also one of our main singers when the pupils jam together at the end of the sessions.

Jordan Wilkinson

Instruments played: Guitar, Bass, Vocals

Qualifications:  Grade 8 Guitar.

Jordan has been with us teaching music lessons for 4 years now and is one of our guitar tutors. Originally joining as a guitarist, he decided to start singing and is now one of our main singers in the end of session jams. Having recently graduated from University, he is currently focusing on his band, Neptune Valley, recording original material in the studio with another of our tutors, Elliot Barron.

Elliot Barron

Instruments played: Drums, Guitar

Qualifications:  Grade 8 Drums

Elliot has been with us for over 2 years now and works as a drum tutor teaching drum lessons, having fitted perfectly into the team. A recent university graduate, alongside his work with The Sound Academy he is working with fellow tutor Jordan Wilkinson in their band Neptune Valley, writing and recording in the studio and performing gigs over the North West.
